is this thing the same as the rb one? I just bought an FC oil cooler to replace my beehive one, and i know that i need the little piece to be able to put the filter back on, so, this is it right? or do i need the stock rx7 piece, then this bolts onto it?

 

You pull the beehive off and install a non-cooler oil filter pedestal and buy/make oil cooler hoses.

That thing you found is for adding an oil cooler to an engine that didn't have external oil lines, say for instance a Honda or Subaru.

 

Thats for a remote oil cooler setup I beleive. You just need an oil filter pedestal to replace the
beehive one. The non-beehive motors use a different pedestal to mount the filter. A stock
one would work or one from here as well:

Also you'll need the oil cooler lines to go to the front and rear locations on the block. These
might need to be custom made since the FC cooler connections are different from the 1st
gen ones.

 

sorry guys for not being clear, my bad, but i need the two ports for a turbo feed line and a gauge. I was just wondering if I still needed the stock piece that the oil filter normaly bolts to on a non bee hive cooler car or not if I use one of these.

You will still need a non -beehive pedestal if you are swapping from a beehive.

The item you linked will not do what you want, it is designed to divert all flow out a port and back into the other port. You want a block that does not redirect flow, but has tapped holes for gauge senders/turbo feed.

something like THIS but without the extra fuel carriers.

the stock aluminum pedestal from a non-beehive rx7 has enough meat to drill/tap your own, Repu pedestals have even more.

ok u got me...maybe i shouldnt be tooting racing beat's horn. but you know it will work and be a quality piece. I'm not sure who else has them, but I would check mazdatrix, atkins rotary, or other sites as such. should be able to get one for around 30 or 40 bucks

 

no! he didn't get you. you were stating fact. it just happened to be tooting RB's horn in the process. by the time you go and source the parts to do many otherwise "simple" things with these engines, you're probably going to spend the same or more than if you'd bought the equivalent RB-specific piece/part. i mean there's a reason Mazdatrix sells certain RB parts (unchanged to the very part number) and that reason is there is no point trying to reinvent the wheel. RB has been doing what they do - make quality parts for US - for years and though other equally viable options have come about since they've been on the scene, the one thing that stands without question is that when you buy something from them, regardless of price, you'll be hard-pressed to find a valid complaint. period.

 

I have the one of the first ones ReSpeed made on my 1985 GSL. It only has 2 1/8 npt holes though. I do not have a turbo. RB is also good. Either one will work.

The re-speed one replaces the pedestal and incorporates an RB style plate to add sensors etc
It will do what you need with one pc to buy $69 i think
