Oil Cooler Vendor question?

Oil Cooler Vendor question?
Hello... I'm looking into getting rid of my 83 oil cooler and actually installing something that will cool my oil. I've found this kit,
http://www2.partstrain.com/store/?N=...699+11920+6122
Does anyone have any experience with this site? They seem to have tons of different parts for first gens and all of them are pretty reasonably priced.
Thanks, Have a good one
Oh does anyone know the dimensions on a stock 79-82 oil cooler?

So removing that restrictor will increase the cooling efficiency of the radiator by increasing flow, right? from those pics i'm not exactly sure of what you're talking about... can you take a wider angle shot please... i know.. noob and whatnot... i haven't spent days standing in the middle of my engine bay... yet
Thanks!
Thanks!

Haven't decided just yet... i'm looking at a 2nd gen FMOC about 30 mins away from me... the only problem is that i'm having trouble finding the oil filter pedastal... so it's up in the air right now. Just read up on your 4 rotor and 5 rotor... nice
Why do you ask?... Oh any word about the location of that restrictor?

Yeah, it is located in the coolant pipe that runs over to the upper pipe in the beehive.
It is easy enough to remove the coolant pipe from the car for easy access to the restrictor. It just takes one phillips screw on the frame rail and one 10mm nut on the firewall. Don't forget to remove all hose connections; three of them; one at radiator, one at heater core pipe running through firewall, and one that runs over to the beehive as mentioned earlier. Once the coolant pipe is removed, I took it to a grinder and ground down the brazed edge until the restrictor became sorta loose. Then I ran an 8mm x 1.25 tap down the hole to cut some threads in it, then I installed a spare front cover bolt or whatever and worked the restrictor around until it was free enough to pull out. You may come up with a more effective method. After the removal process, there was still enough of a rolled-lip on the pipe to hold the coolant hose. I installed it in the car and it ran very cool. It ran every bit as cool as an FMOC car.
I've since removed the coolant pipe from the S model and installed in a very beautiful silver '83 that got the nice 12A (featured in my S model thread), a different beehive and a different clutch fan. Same tall style radiator though. Anyway it again runs just as cool as any FMOC car. The owner of the silver car (a friend) was very happy with the way it turned out.

If you are going to use a FMOC you should just get the coolant hard line from a 79-82, that avoids the "T" fitting on it as well as that restrictor, much simpler.. Put a wanted thread in the for sale section for the filter pedastal, not had to find at all.

I'm up in Oak Ridge, NJ. My car is garaged up up up in NH. I'll be shuttling back and forth every weekend until I get it running again so I can bring it down here.

I have a friend who installed an aftermarket front mounted oil cooler. The oil pressure blew a hole in it in about 3 weeks. He went back and got another, and the same thing happened. He was lucky his engine survived. Not sure what brand it was. But he went back to a stock FMOC. By the way, there is a nice pdf file available on FMOC installation of a second gen cooler in a first gen available on the ISC Racing website. You have to dig through the products list to find it.

There are two "T" fittings. One is on the coolant hard line going from the firewall to the bottom of the rad, along the passenger side of the car. This whole hardline should just be replaced with one from a 79-82, no T fitting on those.
The other T comes out of the engine below the beehive oil cooler assembly. You can either plug one side of this T, or just cut the T off completely just make sure you leave enough pipe sticking out to securly clamp the heater hose on it...
Once you get your car down here we should meet up, always good to meet other rotorheads around here!
