Oil cooler removal headache

OK, I got the classic oil/water cooler leak. I know I must remove the banjo fitting to get this off, but the water line sticks right in front of this banjo deal, can't get a wrench on it. What size wrench do I need? Can this all be done without going under the car (no ramps yet). I'd love to get a step by step from you folks that have actually done this & replaced the 4 'O' rings. I need to know how to access the fittings, wrench sizes needed, etc. The haynes manual is not much help. Local Mazda dealer has one guy that is expert on the old rotarys, he'll do it for $180.00!!! He says thats a deal, 'cause its a PITA.

its like 22mm I think? 2 10mm bolts underneath and a 12mm on top

Bring it here, Ill do it for $20 30 minutes later Ill be done, its not a pain in the *** its EASY, a 2nd gen is worse and I did mine on it in 35 minutes

Hmmm, Owensboro is not all that far from Knoxville, might just take you up on that! Can you check compression and adjust carb as well? More $$, of course! Can't find anyone that familiar around here, except the $180.00 guy.

Better watch it Mike, that's a tempting offer.. I may take you up on it myself. You're not that far from Huntingburg, IN and I'm getting ready to do this fix on my '83 here pretty soon!

SORRY Been off-line for a day or so, been very busy...

Anyone that wants the oil cooler fixed C'mon down, Ill give detail via PM or email

Bring oil and a new oil filter, also can change coolant too at the same time Bring it if you want it changed. I just picked up about 20 of those O rings for a nickel each, and they are even Viton rubber not that cheap crap Mazda used

I will even do other repairs if needed... Emission crap removal, cats removal Dont tell anyone? etc ect from minor to major engine, trans changes

I'm going to attempt the fix myself, but I'll definitely keep you in mind for some future modifications/fixes, Mike.

Where can I get those Viton seals like you found? I bought the OE Mazda rings, but if there's something better...

I got mine from Big River Rubber & Gasket here in Owensboro.. They got everything, from hose to stainless steel to condoms to gaskets LOL
