not good things...the oil cooler works much like a radiator. it feeds cool oil through the upper line and into the front cover and the hot oil that needs to be cooled circulates from the rear iron to teh oil cooler via the long line. the oil is then cooled in the oil cooler and circulated through the top short line and back into the engine.

are you 100% sure?

All diagrams show:

oil pickup tube on front cover -----> oil pump ------> front cover ------> top oil cooler hose ------> oil cooler ------> rear oil cooler hose -----> rear iron - oil filter -------> engine internals ------- > start again.

^^you're right. i double checked the fsm and i had it backwards. hot oil in the top and cooled oil out to the engine via the lower hose. thank you for catching my mistake.

we were talking about the flow of the oil through the cooler for cooling purposes. hot oil enters from the top line, goes through the cooler and is reduced in temperature and circulates back into the engine through the lower line. i had it backwards the first time. its been awhile since i've looked at the diagram in the fsm, but i did remember how the cooler works and how it flowed..i checked the fsm and i was wrong and posted the correction as another had pointed out. i was just backwards on the flow thats all.
