I'm almost positive that they are 10mm nuts. I always take them off with the closed end of a six pointed 10mm wrench. I think a six pointed 10mm socket might work too, but I like using the small wrench best. If you are trying to use the box end of the wrench you can forget that idea. Your best bet is to try to use the closed end. I've taken quite a few off this way. You'll only be able to get about 1/8th or a 1/4 of a turn each time, so BE PATIENT! Taking a long time to get it outta there is better than screwing something up and having to fix it. Trust me... I know... I've seen me do it.

Oh THOSE mother... Umm, I dont know what size they are actually... I would assume its the same size as the end on the block, so try and get something to fit that and try it. I would also assume its going to be in metric, so I would try and find the right size so you dont strip it assuming its not already. I realise you can sometimes get away with it, but uh, I wouldnt here.

of course it goes counter clock wise (like any other bolt) to remove it, I belive it is size 23mm but I got it out with an adjustable wrench from the tops with about 1/8 of a turn each after unscrewing about 5 threads I removed it with my hands, just did it and forgot crush washers so I'll have to take it back off and back on. It looks easier from the bottom, just try to keep anti-freeze out of your eyes. good luck.

all of the bolts around this oil-cooler are 10MM 12MM and a 23MM.

Hope that answers your Question.
