post a want to buy ad in the 1st gen for sale/wanted section. you may want to replace the oil cooler lines when you replace the cooler. you can also have your current cooler tig welded. i have all of mine welded at a friend's engine shop.

1st gen FMOC's are notorious for cracking bungs and leaking. If that's the case, use a high speed bur to cut a U-shaped grove 1/2 the depth of the crack and have it tig welded. Costs me around 15 bucks here to have one tigged. Never reuse the copper crush washers.

could have been damaged from road debris. but thats pretty uncommon. when you get the cooler out post some pics of the beast.

The FC FMOCs use banjo bolts, the 1st gens don't. Grab the cut lines, hard and soft along with the banjo bolts, then read my writeup in the archives.

As in heater hose, no. The temperature and pressure far exceeds heater hose specs. Crimped ferrel connections are the only way to go, clamps won't hold. Tell the hydraulic shop that you need hose that exceeds 300* and 300 psi, they'll set you up with the correct hose. Hose needs to have a steel braided inner layer.

Looks like you've linked to a 12a (under the filter) cooler, is that what you wanted?

12A under as in under the radiator. If you look on their site they have one for under radiator with (under) in parenthesis, and (Top Mount) for the beehive.

I have the same issue! 79' 12a with a leaking oil cooler (the one underneath the radiator) i bought a washer from mazdatrix and i will install it this weekend..hopefully it's just the bolt leaking and not the bottom of the cooler

i upgraded my oil system and installed a remote cooler with a built in fan set up on a temp switch. also i upgrade to a bigger filter for more flow. i love my set up, the temp NEVER gets too high and trust me i run the crap out of it, and my pressure stays at a resonable amount.
