odd brake question

so i bought my 85 FB from a guy two falls ago and he had said that he put some new calipers on it because the old ones were shot. i didn't think to ask him what calipers went onto it and he wont return my emails to help me out. here comes the weird part that keeps me from buying the pads made for our cars. the calipers have a Mitsubishi symbol on them with a 2005 casting number. does anyone know what car these calipers came from? i reallyyyy need new pads before the rotors go bad.

thanks alot!

An actual Mitsubishi logo (a triangle of three 4-pointed diamonds) or a triangle of three triangles?

I've been trying to ID that triangle-of-triangles logo for a long time - - very common on brake parts across brands and years - - but it's not a Mitsubishi logo as far as I've been able to tell. Best info I've found so far is that it is the logo of the UK Ministry of Transport.

maybe it IS the UK MOT mark? i guess you are right, Mitsubishi is 3 diamonds, not 3 triangles

Normally, it's not a bad idea to first remove the minor part(s) your replacing and bring them with you to the store. That way, you can compare them at the counter, avioding mistakes and wasted time running back to return wrong parts. Of course, if this is your only vehicle, that can be difficult.

Yeah, my theory at one point was that the brake mechanisms were either radiologically hardened, or made from recycled Hiroshima steel that had residual radiation....

Too much LDS in the 60's, I know.

Mystery solved.

Credit to J9FD2SA for pointing to Akebono... then some searching linked them to their old logo.
