Do I need new axle shafts to swap in LSD?

This might seem like a stupid question, but I have not been able to find much information on whether or not I need to get GSL-SE axle shafts to install my GSL-SE LSD. I have a 1985 GS with open diff right now.

Thanks in advance,
Ian

Exactly what I wanted to hear, thanks. At what mileage is a clutch-type differential recommended to be rebuilt?

its not neccesarily a matter of mileage, but testing the unit for break away torque or pulling it apart and taking fine measurements of the clutch plates and comparing them to a factory allowable spec
