Question Not the typical motor swap...

Hey I know most ppl put TII but all I want is a N/A. I know I know...its my daily driver and I dont like paying for 10MPG cars. My question is would there be a poewr gain if I went S4 or S5 6port N/A engine AND KEEP my SE intake because I dont want to deal with the ECU crap? Problem is if the S5 N/A engine is the way to go I would want a JDM import....But NO ONE sells N/A RX7 JDM engines....

No such thing. In Japan, all 2nd gen RX-7s were TII powered, thats why there are so many TII engines availible.

If you ran the SE computor and manifolds on a S4 block there would not be much, if any gains. They are nearly the same engine. The same ECU and manifolds on a S5 block might gain a few HP and some quicker revs due to the lighter, higher comp. S5 rotors. It would be minimal gains though......

grrrrrrr.....another question follows then...I heard its not a good idea to port a 6 port engine due to the extra ports already being close to the combustion area of the revolution. Is this true and what are the driveability of a MILD street port do to the drivability and MPG?????

Not that its not a good idea it just can't be ported as extensively and you have to take care not to cut into a coolant jacket. But there are people that have bored out the sleeves and ported only the 5&6 ports making it a little easier to pass emissions. You can also just remove the sleeves and run all the ports open all the time. try a serch on 13b 6 port porting or somthing like that I asked the same question about a year ago and got some good info then. There are also some people that have done "moster ports" by opening the entire area between the 2 ports and filling the coolent jacket. The best thing with just porting the 5&6 port is you keep the low end power and add more high end.

Someone here is getting 26-28 MPG on an S5 N/A engine in a heavy *** Vert... RB exhaust, modded intake, cone filter, and working 6 ports... I dunno what other mods.

He just Megasquirted it and with a Wideband O2 is targeting it at 13ish:1 AFR. He's hoping for 30+ MPG.

I'm sure it wouldnt be too difficult on the standard SE engine.

My 6-Port Street Port has a wicked powerband.

And if the 6-Port design isnt good for porting, why did the RX-8 keep it?

I'd drop a nice SP 6-Port in there. Also, the S5 OMP is electric from what I understand. Mind you, Im only at the S4 level right now.

I'm running S4 13B 6-port N/A with EFI and no 5+6 sleeves + the dynamic chamber + cone filter + 3" straight thru exh. 130.1 hp @ wheels. And yeah as said above, the 4-port engines are better for porting, but going for the 6-port, and actually leaving in the actuators and sleeves will mean u go better down low

the rx8's 6 port is pretty different from S3-S5... as for porting a 6 port... well when i get mine running i can take u for a ride some time, cause i ported mine lol... the port in my avatar is an example of 1 of my ports on my SE engine... i also have a rear cast iron dan gave me that he turned down cause he went over a little too much on the seperator thing thats also pretty big, he wants me to take pictures, i'm gonna do that today...

for my daily driver i used a s4 block and intake, racingbeat exhaust and customer intake with MSD. I'm running it off the gsl-se ecu. runs great. just had to swap the sensors out and block off the secondary injector holes in the intake manifold. 5th and 6th ports work. emmissions removed. runs great. 21 mpg.
