How to clean the engine?
I tried searching and all I really found was how to clean the engine with a powerwasher and cover electrical things. Well I don't really trust that seeing I dont want to get anything wet that shouldn't. So I was wondering what I could use to clean the engine by hand. Thanks.

Thanks man, where can I buy simple green at? Would wire brushes be at the same place? Is demel the same thing as the simple green? I live in a fairly small city so I probably don't have a lot of the shops you do in a bigger place.

Simple green is available at many parts stores, and grocery stores. Brushes from parts store as well.
Dremel is a rotary tool, kinda like a die grinder, that spins at around 10K, and has many different tips available.

hahah, well I think I can handle with the brush. Does autozone have this simple green stuff? Because I know we have one of those stores only like 15 minutes away from where i live.

^^autozone, wallmart, wallgreens, most of the local drug stores should have that stuff.. even some supermarkets..
if you want to be cost effective....... go to Costco (or local wholesale store) and buy a jug of the concentrate stuff

Well, I have always just soaked it down with a good engine degreaser and let it soak for a while. Then I hose it down with the garden hose. Never had an issue with it, except for that damn oscillator which I have since unplugged.
Might not be advisable to do it that way, but it has worked for me...

I used castrol super clean...if you use this stuff...you'll want to take out as much from the engine bay as you can, spray the castrol on as much of it as you can (avoiding electronics)...leave for 10 mins and rinse REALLY REALLY GOOD...for the tough spots use a wire brush or bathroom plastic bristle brush...mine took 9 hours with a friend...
for those who have seen my car up close know how bad my engine bay was...i did it recently so no one know's how clean it is yet...'cept me

I run the engine first to get it warm, then use a spray degreaser and a small paint brush. Wait five minutes. Rinse with just a trickle of water, again using a paint brush to get in the difficult places. Never had a problem.
