Well, 86-88 will drop in with no wiring mods. but they are something like 70 amps while the 89-91 alts were 80 amps. The only downside is that you will have to change the plug, no big deal if you are good at soldering. I will soon be putting an 89 80 amp alt in my car along with a 2nd gen fuseblock and I'll do a writeup on the swap with alot of pics. Hopefully within the next week or two. From what I've been told the swap isn't that difficult. I'll let everyone know after I do it. Later

This swap is so easy. All I had to do was find a suitable spacer for the mount and it plugged/bolted right in. Still running the stock fusible links without a problem.

Yea, from what I've read the fuseable links should work fine. I want to upgrade mine so I have a power source to run other things off of, like fog lights, electric fans all that good crap.
firstrx7: Unless you want to go all out like I'm gonna your best bet would be to get an alt from an 86-88 since it is basically a bolt in mod. Unless you're running a big system or a lot of other high draw things the early 70 amp FC alt will do just fine. Later

The Turbo II ones give out 80 Amps. So I guess an 87/88 Turbo II Amp would be best and "bolt in".
