I say put on around a 300 shot. You can always put on more later if you need it.
As for boost, you can easily run 15 psi with the "naws" or closer to 20 without it.

oh, you meant safely, nevermind

no more than 3 bottles of naws, cause its to hard to fit that many buttons on the steering wheel.
boost, hmm... you can only run as much as you can run.
what setup are you going to use? 3rd Gen twin turbos?
T04? T2? Honda kit? Weed Wacker?

i vote for the 16 airpump method

seriously though... there are no real answers... you could make passes all day long on 150-shots with mo problem, or you could lunch your engine with a 25... likewise some people run over 10 pounds of boost on stock, worn-out engines, while others have problems running half as much.

it all depends on a LOT of factors...

I would go the turbo route. Although Nos is cool, as in the Fast and the Furious, it can seriously damage your engine if not used properly.

naws

forget commercial Naws bottles...they suck ...get yourself a long scuba tank. Fill it up with medical grade Naws...run 5 facet fuel pumps in series and a garden hose for fuel line. The end results are awesome all your friends will be like Dyaammm that $hit is quick! you can spray all day long and beat all the cars in the world. Even 9sec Supras. The real fun begins when you spray at over 100mph.

no way! all i did was the garden hose mod and i went from 0 to 200 in like 4 seconds!!! i haven't even hooked up the naws yet.

actually i wasn't gonna use naws, i was just going to put the tip of my oxyacetylene torches in the intake and open the valves when I run... that adds the oxygen (PURE oxygen!) and fuel at the same time, it'll be MAD quizick! Like 0 to 400 in 2 seconds !!!1

It's either "Spoon", "DC Autosports" or "AEM"...a guaranteed 20 HP from either of them....

You guys are some fucked up dudes...

I know you're all having fun and suck, but If this is some kid, you've gotta educate him...

I remember a year or so ago, I came in here.

I had about 8 pages worth of text on what I wanted to do... I wanted to turbocharge and regear and upgrade every damn part on the car... ANd I barely knew how the rotary engine worked.

I had a Whole typed page for each category, Engine, Drivetrain, Brakes, Suspension and Steering, Electrical and Interior.... It was nuts....

Hell, I didn't even know enough to shift anywhere over 3 grand. No wonder the car was dog slow.

Lee, dont mind the guys they think you're being sarcastic. Especially as we have many such people ask these things in light of the recent movie. If you are joking, it's tired and not really funny any more.

If you're not, Take the time to learn how the car works before bolting **** to it and hoping it'll work. You'll be in for a world of disapointment if you don't.

Tuning a car by yourself is a lost art. People rush out to the speed shops and have someone do it for them. It's really self gratifying to stand by your car, which is purring nicely, stock or modded.. Just knowing YOU did it. Not Vinnie down at the shop. Not your uncle Bob. YOU.

Lee, Grab a Haynes manual from your local parts store and don't hesitate to ask questions... But, you'll need to be more specific on what you want to know and you'll need a good understanding on how your car runs before you can modify it.

Good luck.

sorry kid

Yeah don't listen to me...Pele is right man. I was just being a fool...although I laughed at the $hit I wrote. That garden hose sounds doable..humm maybe I'll give it a try. LOL

best advice is reading like he said.

BTW welcome.

welcome

read a lot, ask many questions, and pull important stuff apart.

lol especially that last one. you'll be surprised how fast you get to know your car when you pull something important off and not now it.

I know that feeling, it sure is nice. The first rotary engined car I played with when I was first learning a lot, was the 85 GSL. It had rough idle and sluggish acceleration. I musta spent in excess of 8 hours on that baby fighting ignition timming and tracking down vacuum leaks...But now she purrs like a kitten, and out-accelerates most anything . It really is kinda cool to know that I did that .

~T.J.

PS - I am still learning a lot too, so keep the good info coming guys

If you've got the cash to get a shop that will touch your rotary, and that is becoming more and more of a rarity, go the turbo route no matter what sterling says and keep boost to about 6,7 psi without an intercooler and 8-10 psi with an intercooler, although you're getting into gray area regarding apex seals if they're stock. Easier is nitrous. The consensus is a 75 HP shot of juice from a wet system should cause no problems. Make absolutely sure you have already upgraded your electric fuel pump. That is actually your first step before you try any of the above or your 12A will pay the price and you'll have no one but yourself to blame. Some people in the Forum report 100 and 150 HP shots with no problem, but I don't know if I'd try that without pinning the rotor gears...have fun, but make sure you take care of the fuel pump first. I personally would go with the Mallory Comp110 and a regulator of your choice, most people like Holley...
