Question Is this normal?

I'm driving my second owned RX7. This one is a '84 SE. The other was a '81 GSL. It just feels like my engine is winding up way quicker than I'm moving. To help clarify if I'm being paranoid or not please post with your speeds.

IN FIFTH GEAR....

3000 RPM=60 MPH
5000 RPM=100 MPH

Is it the same for everyone else????
Thanks

Just checking, BRian did you change the gearing in your se from the stock 4.076?
If so did you feel much of a loss out of the hole and did your mpg go up on the highway? rx7doctor

I thought at first that it would make a big difference when I put it in, but to be honest I can't realy tell any difference. In fact I am faster, yes, faster in the 1/8 than I was with the 4:076. Of course that could've been because of the way I was launching it. No difference in mpg on the highway either. 22mpg hwy/ 17 city. 10 in town driving hard.

Could be a slipping clutch.
