That brake light comes on when your combination valve, i believe pressure differential (?), senses a pressure imbalance in your brake lines. Most likely that comes from a possibly pinhole in the brake line, a leaky wheel cylinder, anything that doesn't amount to equal pressure in your back brakes lines vs your front. Could have been a little glitch, but might be a good idea to check all your lines to see if you have any leaks.

This used to happen in my Subaru wagon and I found it was because the float sensor would sink as all the brake fluid rushed to the front of the reservoir. I inspected the reservoir to be rather low, so I topped it off and the problem went away.

If you don't have any leaks, then it might be this. Anyways, hope you fix the problem!

Listen to 1984special, check the fluid before you go mucking about checking the lines.

90% chance that the fluid is low and is sloshing around.

My light was coming on in my 94 Thunderbird during hard braking because the the parking brake sensor was loose on the inside of the car.

Add brake fluid.

Simple fix - no kidding. You luck out on this one; your next problem better be much more complicated, because we've got an intelligent group here that doesn't like to be trifled with on these quick and easy problem resolutions.

Next time, try telling us that you have a 20B peripheral port engine with triple MSD ignition modules, twin turbo through a custom manifold, and it seems to be missing ignition and/or fuel between 7000 and 8000 rpm. Now that's a question that's going to take some explanation...

See, now in the time it took you to read my reply, you could have fixed your problem already. Go to it,

Oh yea?!

I have a 4 rotor, using a 12a rotor in a renesis housing, one using a 13b turbo rotor in a 12a housing, and the other made out of popsicle sticks and some delicious paste. It has turbo and a supercharger, non-sequential. Its getting fuel through some twisty straws four or five 39lb injectors, a weber 48 IDA and three barrels of a junkyard Carter. The engine misses when I use the wipers between 750-900 rpms and when I scratch my ***** between 357 and 462 rpms. Do I need more blinker fluid? Could this be a problem caused by the hamsters in my dizzy? They look nausous.

*nevarmore has just decided to stop studying for his last exam. He has gone a bit wacky.

Think about why the fluid is low. Leaks? Probably worn pads. When they get low the cylinder in the caliper is out and the fluid is taking up the void. Probably be able to shine a flashlight through the rims to check em.

Thank you for all that replied. I wished it is as simple as just adding brake fluid. My brake fluid cylinder is almost full. I am not loosing any brake fluid either. The only think I can think of is the small amount of space in the brake fluid cylinder is making a difference when braking hard causing the fluid to move the sensor around enough to induce a low brake fluid warning. It sort of make sense since the dash brake light went on just a fraction of a second only. I will top off with brake fluid tomorrow and test it again.

Thanks everyone..............

Theres a cyndrilical 'wall' in the center of the resivior right under the cap. Theres a float in that. That float is the sensor. With the car running open the cap and push that float down, the BRAKE warning light should come on.
