Noobie question, post flames here.
1st thanks to everyone actively contributing to this forum. All of you are talented, creative individuals with pimp *** rides.
Now, the noob. I just got my 1st 7; 85 gsl-se. I've searched the archives and such and it seems that all the rats nest info is for carburated models. Maybe someone could point me in the right direction, and i will be quickly out of your way. thanks.

Unless you are having problems, leave it. It's not a hp gain, it will clean up the engine bay and eliminate potential vacuum leaks, but that's all.
If you do wish to pursue it, I believe there is a write up in the 2nd gen section. The SEs are very similiar to the S4s.

There is no reason to flame you on any real question, welcome to the dark side bro.
That said alwaya try the search button first and be sure you are legal in your area without pollution equipment

Your answers are out there. Yes, you are better off keeping the silinoids if your car is running ok. Essentially there are only 2 that you need. The one that controls the BAC valve and the A/C silinoid valve if you have ac.
Your car has a 6port 13b. Those 5th and 6th ports open from backpreasure from the exhaust. You will see 2 big plunger looking actuators at the bottom of your intake manifold. Those actuate rods that turn the ports closed to open, just inside your engine. Those plungers use backpreasure from your exhaust to open. Around 3psi. If you completely gut the cats there will be no backpreasure and you will notice a huge loss in the upper RPM's because of no 5th and 6th ports.
This topic has been covered many times. You basically have 3 options if you want to modify.
1. Modify the exhaust but leave the Main Cat. This will give enough back preasure to open the ports normally but with some gain in hp.
2. Gut the exhaust completely and use an alternate method of port actuation such as electrical servo's, air pump, or wire open the 6 ports.
3. Run a full open exhaust and completely remove the 6 port sleeves and rods. Use JB weld to cover the holes......and call it a day
Many people will advise not to remove the 6ports. They do promote more torque in the lower RPM's. I removed them because I enjoyed the top end gain, and it was easier.
Regardless of what you do. I recommend cleaning your Throttle body, and intake manifold thoroughly. Often, the 6porst arn't opening if the mani hasn't been cleaned. Many years of carbon buildup will gum the crap out of it and really hinder performance.
Good luck

WOW..$$$...Mazdatrix....Good choice! They definetly sell a quality product. When you get the exhaust bolted up, smear a little grease on the rod of the two 6 port actuators. Take it for a drive and redline it under a load a few times. Then, check the arms to see if the grease was smeared. The rods should move to full motion during driving.
Again, I would recommend taking apart the intake and cleaning everything...... You will be amazed. 20 years of carbon.

There is an option 4 for opening the aux ports that's very simple and costs less than 10 bucks in plumbing parts at the hardware store. I have done it on an SE and have it on my S4.
Nope, my option is much simpler and cheaper. There is a pic of it in the following thread.
