No tach

I am trying to figure out why my tach on my cluster isn't working. I have a TII setup using FC coils. I swapped out trailing coils and instument clusters and still don't work. I even ran a new wire from cluster to trailing coil and nothing.. what can it be? I'm running it from the FC trailing coils yellow wire. it's one of the ones on the 4 prong plug

Do the idiot lights come on? If not, it's probably a blown fuse.

I know it sounds silly, but that was my problem, and this guy's, too.

So I'm just checking.

The thing is I installed a S5 cluster.. I installed a E6k and the ECU is reading rpm with no issues. I ran a wire from trailing FC coil to dash clustr and still no tach. will try again this evening

Does anyone know if the E6k can run the stock tach through a pwm wire?

I imagine the E6k is getting its RPM reading from the CAS. Is this correct? Have you verified spark on the trailing?

If the E6k is getting the tach from the trailing - as well, sometimes there can be a problem with the stock tach and an ECU sharing the same line (difference in input impedance between the two, usually). If this is the case, you may be able to add an inline resistor to the E6k input.

Once we know how the ECU is wired and if there is spark on trailing, we can hunt down an option to get your tach working.
