Unhappy No Spark (HELP PLEASE!)

So I'm trying to start my '80 RX7 and am getting no spark.

I the only things different are I removed the rats nest and swapped the motor.

The disty's are different between the two motors, the old motor hard the disty without the ignitors attatched to the sides, the new one has them attatched to the sides. I wired the YEL/BLU from the leading ignitor to the leading coil and the YEL/GRN from the trailing ignitor to the trailing coil, and grounded the BLK/WHT wires since they went to ground. I didn't run them to the coils, should I have run them to the coils?

I just know I'm getting no spark, and I'm getting pissed...

Sounds like I'm better off to swap the distributors. I was getting spark before, and that wouldn't require any hacking. I'll keep the current disty though for when I get my MSD, as IIRC the newer disty is better to use with the MSD.

Thanks YB.

That, sir, did the trick! Fired her up today... massive vac leak... first time the motor ran in 2 years and it went straight to redline as soon as it fired lol...

BUT it fired. And blew out a bunch of MMO. Smoked up the garage.

Exhaust leaks don't cause redlining. The hot start assist linkage on the carb is probably jambing the throttle open. Look in that area first.

Thumbs up

I said a massive vacuum leak, not exhaust leak.

I'm not worried about it, wanted to hear it fire, I've got a holley on the way.

I knew the linkage on my carb was jacked but the throttle plates were all closed so I figured it'd be OK, guess not. Plus I did remove the rats nest but I don't think I got all the holes plugged, so I am reasonably sure it's a vacuum leak.
