No Spark..?

I have a GSL-SE that's been sitting for 5 years...

I tested for spark while trying to get this puppy running again and nothing.

There was a dual MSD setup on it and it had alot of wires hanging uncapped and unspliced and since I have NO CLUE about how the MSD is supposed to be hooked up I carefully removed them and the harness whoever did the install made. I labeled the wires so I can hook it back up in reverse if needed be later.

Anyways, I used a old harness I had off of a 85 GS and hooked everything back up copying my car (another 85 GS) wire for wire.... By everything I mean the small harness that goes to the distributor and the small harness that goes to the coils.

Still no spark.

My next step is to probe around on my car and see what has power and what is ground etc... and compare back to the SE but my car is in pieces right now so that's going to have to wait until I finish that project.

Anyone know enough to throw me some advice in the meantime...

Once I dived into splicing in the harness'es it turned out it wasn't as many wires as I thought.

The SE has a carbed 12A in it w/a Mikuni right now, not fuel injected. THANKS.

Your car been sitting for too long. I would check if the engine spins by hand.If it does you're lucky.Check coils, spark plugs, might have to change battery.Once you get a battery and and get some spark, put a little oil through carb. Also check all the usual things.

I would suggest getting a voltmeter and checking where the power is being cut off. Your coils/distributor could be bollixed. If it was sitting for a long time a moisture build up can really ruin your day.

Ohh yea... I been through alot of nonsense so far... Once I figure out spark, next is a FROZEN mikuni carb...

Who knows after that... Everyday is a new hurdle with this thing.

Well that was a easy fix...

Before I tried anything I put a fuseable link in each spot on the SE and wallah' power to the coils...

Turns out the SE has 5 fuseable link spots and the GS has three... I assumed the two top extra spots on the SE must of been for other stuff the GS didn't have like cruise control, power windows, etc... WRONG.

At least I learned the ignition harness isn't that bad at all, how it's circut runs & works, and that I can handle the fact it's only made up of about 7 wires total.

I have a few questins if anyone can help...

I'm trying to get this SE mentioned above started and so far no luck...

The mikuni that was on it was frozen stuck, with no play or movement whatsoever in the throttle at all, so I took it off and swapped it out for a clean well stored Dellorto I been holding on to for awhile now that came off of a 13 6port...

I'm thinking since I already know a Nikki can run on a 12A or a 13B just by upping or downing the jets one size why shouldn't the Dellorto be able to do the same thing...??

Does anyone know if the Dellorto needs a return line...? I'm using a holley regulator and what pressure I should be running..?

And also are the Mikuni jets and the Dellorto jets interchangable..???

Thanks.

I saved her from being junked / stripped.

Been through everything so far on this thing for the past week straight...

Latest issue is I swapped the frozen Mikuin out for a working Dellorto except the dellorto is jetted for a 13B and it's on a 12A...

She starts up and runs for about 20 seconds or so and then dies. I pull the plugs and they're soaked.

I'm going to try swapping out the jets from the one carb to the other... hopefully they're interchangable. That'd be beautiful if they are and that is the problem. Wishful thinking huh..? haha
