Angry no spark

OK, i bought a 79 base model at an auction. it was at night but the car appeared to be in good shape. anyway on the windshield it gave the diagnosis on what was wrong it said timing. I brought it home today and put my timign light on the 2nd upper plug wire-which was hooked to trailing on the distributor, I got a hit on this one with the light and found it to be way out of time. but i put it only the other 3 wires nothing happens, no hit on light. it works fine on the one-not others. any help?

I would change the points, cap, rotor, wires and plugs then go from there. When i got my 79 the points looked like they had 10,000 miles on them!

plugs and wires are clean, one of the ingition boxes is clean, i file the rotor and cap for a clean surface. someone has been workin on it already. no unconnected wires. one wire in the distributor was soldered on and is loose so i am gonna fix it tomorrow to make sure thats not it but i am sure its gettins contact like it should.

Whoa, ignition boxes? 79's had points. Maybe you got a car that someone upgraded with an 81-85 electronic ignition dizzy? Does it have 2 small ign boxes mounted on the dizzy body?

Also, yu check the ign timing off the front rotors plugs. Lower is leading, upper is trailing.

Could it have been built in '79 and sold as an '80 model?

well they are not boxes but they are mounted just behind the battery. they are cylinders. The plate inside the door says 9/78 so its a 79 model.
