No rev buzzer in my 80 SA

So my speedo went out and I grabbed a buddies spare cluster he had laying around (thanks robs_seven). Pulled my cluster and swapped over the speedo. In the process I noticed that I had no rev buzzer hanging off the back of my cluster. I looked at the 79 cluster I was given and it had a buzzer.
Further examination of my 80 cluster showed not only was it missing the rev buzzer but it didn't have any of the electronics on the pcb for the tach to drive the buzzer. No green wires coming out of the tach for the buzzer. No adjustment pot on the side and a whole bunch of components just weren't even there and the holes had never had solder in them.
At first I thought someone had removed the buzzer, but thats not the case here. It obviuosly never had one from the factory. I bought this car in 83 and was the second owner so I know it wasn't removed by me or the previous owner.
So I'm assuming (about to make an *** out of U and ME) that a buzzer delete option must have existed from the factory if you knew to ask for it. Anyone else ever run into this?
I actually wanted a buzzer too
but the tach from the 79 cluster was dead. Oh well.

it is strange..you would think that all models might have it. Anyway, all of the wiring diagrams show the buzzer, so must be available for all years. I don't remember ever seeing it listed as an option, but it must be.

I was thinking it was standard but you could order a delete option to remove it. Sometimes thats how these types of small differences come up. I'll see if the parts fiche shows a different part # for the tach.
mine works , but quite interesting about only 79 and 84, 85 years . I like to get just to it as opposed to it going off
anyone know if the S5's have it ??? I've never heard it on my vert, but don't really exceed 7K on that car (no HP gain up there)

The tach for the 79 and 80 are indeed two different part # and the buzzer is a 79 only part that list with the same last serial number as the 79 tach. So the 80s did not come with a buzzer officially. I didn't cross reference the 79 tach last serial number against the 80 serial numbers to see if maybe some early 80s did come with the 79 tach and a buzzer. That may be possible.
