no power at coils

I have been working on a 84 rx7 for a few months now and it's been a very trying experience. I recently replaced the ignitors because I was not getting any spark in my leading plugs. Replacing the ignitors worked, for about a day. I have been trying to get it started and aside from the occasional pop, I didn't get much. I checked for spark again and now nothing. Thing is I am not getting power to either coil. Could I assume the ignition is out? Could I bypass the ignition and go directly to the coils through a toggle? That would be temporary but I may be able to narrow it down.

Thanks

both coils and igniters are connected to a common 12v ignition wire.

but if you must, its not hard to bypass the factory wire. just unplug factory wires to both igniters and the stock 12v wire to coils + terminals.

use a 30amp relay, use any factory ignition wire to trigger the relay. terminal 87 to coil. run a wire from leading coil + and - terminals to leading igniter. do the same for leading

12A or 13B?
12A Black/white wire direct from ignition switch supplies power to + terminal of each coil and ignitor.
13B Black/yellow wire from one of two round main relays (under hood left side rear corner near firewall) supplies power to coils and ignitors.

Sorry. 12a. I was thinking on my way to work today I have been using a remote starter (no keys) would that have any affect? I have used one in the past but only on older cars. Can I run a ground directly from the starter/frame to the coils? Thanks for the help.

no. coil - terminal is for the tach fuel pump and not your standard ground wire.

^ negative side is the trigger for the coil. Positive side should always have 12v when car is running. Magnetic PU in distributor triggers the ignitor which supplies a ground to the negative terminal on the coil which causes the coil to fire.

Does the remote button just connect to the Battery + and the starter? If the ignition switch is not turned on or power is not supplied to the coils/ignition some other way, the car is not going to run no matter how long the starter turns the engine over.

That may be a huge part of this. I picked up this remote last week. It is hooked up to the starter solenoid. I will try the key in the run position tonight.
