No high beams.........???
I've never had working high beams in my car (83 gsl). When I pull back on the switch, they come on, but if I push it forward, the headlights go out all together. I've changed the multi-function switch twice. both times with known good units. The wiring is good. So, does the flasher board control the high beams?
This is how to fix them, it works great.

Thanks for taking care of that for me Aussie.
However, if the units that he swapped in really are "known good" then his issue may lie elsewhere. But then again, if the low beams work then the high beams should too unless someone has been snipping wires somewhere...

If the brights work in one position and not the other I have to believe the problem is with the combo switch, eventhough it may have been replaced with a known working unit. I would pull the combo switch back out, move the mast (I think thats what it is called, but if not I am refering to the lever used to switch from low to high beams) as if switching from low to high beams and note how the contacts are made. If nothing can be obtained with a visual inspection, get hold of a continuity tester. Schematics will help at this point to tell which contacts pertain to the high beams. Once the correct contacts are located, you can use the continuity tester/multimeter to probe around and hopefully pin point whats causing an open circuit when you should be showing continuity.
Yeah, try the electrical contact cleaner first. And if it comes with a tube to reach tight places (like wd-40 does) then you don't even have to take anything apart. Just hose it down and let it dry. All you have to do is get it onto the contacts. Good luck....
