non se gas tank in se?

i know the efi tanks are a little different but anybody have experience using a regular tank in an se? i have 2 se tanks and both are full of sludge/varnish from old gas. steam cleaning the only way to get rid of that or is there a chemical i can use? other option is a cheap fuel cell since this car is going to be a racer anyway.

You could take it to a rad shop and they can clean it for ya.

Or I know POR15 makes stuff to clean that when you redo your gas tank, maybe you can just buy the Marine Clean instead of the whole kit.

i talked to the dude at the rad. shop and he said he just steamed a similar one out of like a 280z and he had to steam it like 20 times and cut a hole around the baffle. he said if it was as bad as that one its be like $150 just to steam it and another $85 to seal it.

im just going to put my old gs tank in it unless someone comes out and says i did it and it didnt work.

It will work. You just need to get mod the fuel lines as the SE's are 1/2" vs 5/16 for non-GSL-SE models.

If your gonna run EFI,either install the SE slosh baffle in the 12A tank,or dont let your fuel get below 1/3 tank.
Take a hard left with 1/4 full tank and youll see what I mean, been there done that......

Go buy a gallon or 2 of laquer thinner/acetone, use all of it. Let it soak for a while, then slosh it around. Another option is Berrymans Carb Cleaner, it's 20 something a gallon, nast stuff to work with though.

After you have poured the goo out, start boiling water and add a strong dose of Dawn dishwashing liquid to remove the rest. Flush with copious amounts of cold water. It may take a couple of flushes with the chemicals, soap and cold water.

ok so i put my old gs tank in the se, i swaped the entire pck up assemblys to keep the 1/2 in line. i had to mod my smaller screen out of the 12a tank because the larger se one was to shitty. runs awesome. took it around the block and she is fast as ****.
this is an old rotary performance done up car. they still in business? anyone on the forum?
theyre out of garland tx and seem to do great work. i have 2 of their streetport motors and after sitting for 5 years being neglected they both run great.

I would still clean out the SE tank and use it. If not, I might take it off your hands. RP is still in business as far as I know, I think they have a website.

eww, thats a nasty tank. good luck cleaning that.

a good clean rust free 1st gen tank is becoming a hard find now-a-days.
