Nitrous?
Can you use just a universal kit on an RX-7 or do you need a special kit? Who makes a good kit? What all would i need besides a kit? And how well would nitrous go on a carborated motor? Most of my knowledge comes from hondas and other piston motors. Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

IT depends what kind of carb your useing... my friends SUPOSIVLY has a plate for a nikki carb... on a carberated motor most people run a plate undernieth the carb that sprays the nitrous and fuel... if you get like a holley 4bbl carb on there you can pick up a nitrous kit most anywhere... but as far as the jet sizing you want to run I dont know... I would say run ATLEAST 1 size richer on the jet for the fuel... but there are people on the board that can help you with what size jets you want to run... I have YET to run a nitrous setup on my 13b... but if I build my new motor I will... hoped I answerd some of your questions...

The only kit I know of is made by NOS. It's a fogger style system. Go to Holley's website, they have an application guide. A universal kit will not work because they only fit Q-jet or Holley flanges.
Carbs setup's are quite a bit different as they are wet systems. So you'll have to do some fuel system mods. The stock pump is inadiquate so that will have to be changed.
Nitrous systems run at 6-7psi where as the stock Nikki carb only wants 4psi. I don't think the RX-7 system is any different, so double check that. If I'm right, then you'll need a standard 6-7psi pump, pumb the nitrous in, then a regulator to lower the pressure to 4psi for the carb.

Ya, I don't quite get it either. It was an honest question. There was no mention of nazzz or bling bling in the original question. If so: 1) I wouldn't have answered 2) The second post would have had at least an iota of humor.

Hey wagondriver if you dont have anything useful to say then say nothing at all. There is nothing wrong with nitrous.
But to everyone else thank you. The carb on the car is a mekuni (check spelling) side draft. Its a 13b and dynoed 225 at the flywheel before the new ignition.

This must be back in 1984 or so when I recall some company did make a plate for a Nikki carb. I belive the company name has a name that was similar to "plenium" or something of the like..anyone?

If you have a mikuni you are going to have to drill holes in your intake manifold and make a direct port nitrous setup. I believe the universal direct port kits are even cheaper than the plate onese. You are going to need one nitrous and one fuel fogger in each runner.

50-75 shot is a safe margin if you have a nice fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator. Stock ports can take a 100 shot but that's pushing it. If you have a nicely rebuild motor though you can spray 150 or even more sometimes if you got the fuel all set up.
Also keep in mind that in rotaries a given ammount of nitrous would actually be giving more HP than the same amount on a piston motor.

Just find a reputable shop that installs nitrous systems.
let them know exactly what you are looking for.
Ive driven a car with RPM activated Nitrous. tons of fun.
you hit a certain rpm and DAMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!
