Nikki rebuild.....Success!

Hey guys, just thought I would post my recent adventure with the old FB. After diagnosing some drive-ability problems I found that my floats were sticking, and the carb was flooding. I debated back and forth whether to rebuild it myself, since I am leaving for Iraq in a few weeks. I bit the bullet and did it.

I am very pleased with the results. The thing runs like a champ. If anyone questioning if they can do it......don't sweat it. Just take your time and lay it all out.

My first Nikki rebuild crashed and burned... but then again I was doing it blind, no manual or diagram.

The three subsequent ones I've done for friends turned out great.

Glad to hear you got yours on the first shot. Not that complicated with the carb manual in hand, a couple of beers, and the ability to throw all the emissions and choke-related junk away, lol.

Jon

Yeah.... I had my doubts. The coating on the needle valves is true. Your floats will tend to stick every once in awhile until they break in completely. Mine stuck today. No biggy, just give it a tap.

The upper part of the carb body on the blue shop towel looks out of place like it has been photoshopped in. It may just be me.

It's not photoshopped. Maybe just the angle and lighting....... I know my camera skills are a little to be desired...

I plan to remove the choke, and the tps was not put back after removal. I mostly was just wanting to see how the rebuild went first. I plan to keep the vacuum secondary's due to gas mileage and ease of operation.
