Weber 40 dcd questions

I just bought a dual downdraft setup on a rotary performance intake manifold with weber 40 dcd's. I have a pacesetter header on there with a stock port motor with 60k on it. my question is are the weber's going to flow to much? am i gonna have to re-jet it completely? some tips from some other guys with weber's would be great thanks. its an 84 GSL

it should be alright. your motor is a 12A right? I use to have the weber DCD's on my SA22C and it was a runner. my mods on that car was a stock port 12A with RB headers 2.5" pipes all the way back to the RB Power Pulse Muffler. Just make sure the carbs are syncronized or it will run rich in one rotor and lean in the other. If you don't want it I would be interested in buying them.

What kind of jetting did you have?

I've just bought a set of 38s and a Rotary Engineering intake and don't know if I'll have to fiddle with the jets or not...

I really hate to interrupt your wet dream, but the RE dual 38 mm DCD setup is not worth 1k. For that kind of money, one could go FI with ITBs. Going prices the last few months have been running in the 400-550 range. The carbs should already be tapped for the mop lines. There should be a copper tube inserted in each primary barrel just above the venturi.

I bought 2 complete setups in December, 1 for a 12A, the other for a 13B and paid a little over 850 total. I can't comment on jetting as I'm installing the 12A setup on a 1/2 bp and RE ground the jet sizes off of thier jets.

I agree with Trochoid, I just paid three hundred dollars for my RE DCD setup.

The set of Weber 36 DCD's on my RX-7 I bought new from RE. Originally installed on my 12a. Now installed on a stock block 4 port 13b without change.

Back in '89 I swapped the jets out and made some tests. IIRC the RE jet size was a 135.

The original cost of these was $750.

These guys state on thier website that Webers are getting expensive and they aren't kidding. They want 77 for a Nikki rebuild kit, 850 for a Weber intake and 1650 for the intake and a Weber 48 mm IDA. That's just plain nuts. No wonder I've never heard of them. For 1650, they should come out to my house, install/setup the carb and dyno tune it.

They haven't dropped their prices on IDA since the IDA went back into production and 850 for an intake manifold is just plain nutty!

The DCD carb only came in 36/36 or 20something/36.

You should only have to pay around 400-600

I got mine for 525 shipped with a matching RE header/collector

Most of them were jetted for a stockport 12A, unless the previous owner specified that they rejetted it

Last but not least take good care of them. They're badass.

28/36 DCD Carb's application varied by the size of the venturies installed in the carb throats.

I guess mine are 36's then.

How do you like them, Tranquil?

Were they hard to get running properly?

I'm hoping to get mine installed before my Solo II season starts in late May.
