I tried the mech secondary mod, but didn't really like it. Undone it and haven't looked back. On the track, I don't want to have to worry whether I open the throttle faster than the accel pump will allow. That little stumble can really mess ya up on the exit..........

LMAO. "Spell my name right - it's the N. O. T. O. R. I. O. - U. S. you just lay down slow..."

I too, did the mechanical secondaries mod and loved it. Modify your AP as well to overcome the slight stumble you might have when jumping on the gas early in the R's...

where is the Vacuum actuator for the secondaries?
My buddy's Nikki is NOT opening the secondaries at all
even at full throttle also the Accelerator Pump doesnt
not at all
we are going to rebuild the Carb with the rebuild kit
Sterling recommends but we still need to chase down the
actuator or hose or what ever is holding them out
they were varnished pretty heavily, possibly even stuck
shut but we used a full can of Berryman's carb cleaner
fixed that
The car runs Much better we replaced the pre pump filter and
ran Sea Foam in the tank
the car has a bog off Idle (no AP) and the Secs dont open
the car still pulls fairly decent even in 5th at 1100
the rats nest is still in place
it out

You won't be able to see the vacuum actuated secondaries open unless you are strapped to the engine while driving down the road. They will not open unless the car is actually being driven. Just working the throttle while sitting in your driveway won't do it.

True. If the engine still pulls good above 5K, they are opening. The primaries won't flow enough to allow the engine to pull hard above ~5k, even though it may still accelerate.

As for the off-idle bog, that could be from the accel pump out of adjustment.

Glad to see some pays attention and gives credit to the author.

When I was a young lad, Jr High, that is how my neighrbor tuned his 55 Chevy. Took the hood off and sat on the fender, while his buddy made runs up and down the street. Back then, no one thought of the dangers, or called the police. If the police had come out, they would've probably laughed and said don't do that. On the other hand, I did get a ticket back then for having 3 people on my bicycle.

On my 260Z with the Holley 390 I can see em crack at high revs
but it has a fairly light spring in it and it is a 390 so it keeps a strong signal
but the RX-7 did drive very well it could pull a little harder but I think the emulsion tube on the secondary side is still pretty varnished up the butterflys looked glued in place but they seal well in the throat because they were holding the carb cleaner while the engine was running (in neutral with the filter off)

What do you expect? Every single piece of RX7 knowledge that I carry within my own mind came from somebody on this forum. I knew nothing when I arrived, and I now am able to keep my own car running (which is all I wanted when I came here for the first time). Other than that, I'm just repeating good advice from other sources on this forum. At least I pay attention, right?

Just imagine if you had to include a bibliography at the end of every post!

Just poking fun. I honestly thought I would get a bigger reation out the 'sitting on the fender' line. Must have went over most everyone's head.

You can see the secondariyes open, if you want to put the car on a dyno and load test it.

Bibliography, nah, too much work. Some of the pics I have uploaded have been downloaded nearly 1500 times. I'm sure I'm getting credit for them, yeah right.
