Should anything be attached to these two fittings? Lower one is tapered and shows no clear area where a hose may have been so thinking not. The upper one though... sure looks like there should be a vacuum line there? If so, what should it connect to in layman’s newbie terms.
12a. Entirely original. Stalls on letting off the gas if idle speed screw set less than 1500, and idle speed bounces around so poking around for vacuum leaks and found those two suspicious looking characters.
currently at Home Depot buying the ingredients for a home made smoke machine. Kinda looking forward to it!
I'm not sure about the bottom hose, but the top one runs around the rear side of the carb to the vacuum rack. Where on it I'm not certain off the top of my head, but if you look online for a vacuum diagram on your year vehicle it should pop up. I believe it connects to the vacuum rack on a nipple near the back, but don't quote me there. What I do remember is that it's part of the anti-afterburn system, and I believe the no.2 valve at that.
If the diagrams online (just search "____ year rx7 vacuum diagram") don't show it, the carb manuals might which can be found on the foxed.ca website.
Thanks and got it. No 2 afterburner is what the interweb says, and yes vacuum line around back of carb to rats nest most likely missing. Once it stops drizzling will go take a look. Interweb also says missing line would explain the slight backfire popping I have at throttle off whilst in gear. (Although my son likes the noise!).
Found it! Not so much a vacuum leak as a vacuum thing I forgot to reattach. The other end of the line was still attached with the unattached end ending up waaaayy under the carb so hard to spot it was not attached without some rummaging around. now for a test drive and see if that was the cause of my idle issues.
