New Tires?
How do you guys feel about these tires for my 1984 GS?
http://ssl.delti.com/cgi-bin/rshop.p...&nichtweiter=1
They come in the correct size (185/70 R13) and are H rated. I only need tires for the summer months since I store the car in the winter and I can get these for $199.99 shipped to me for the set of 4.
Do these look like a good buy or would you guys have a better recommendation for the stock rims?

Looks like a good deal... Most people like the grip of the Sumitomo HTR200..
Similar price.... http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Sizes....&model=HTR+200
I run these (Falken Sincera) on my street driver and love them! Handle pretty good, dead quiet and with 500 tread wear...they should last forever... about the same price also...

I just bought a set of these Kumho's, $230 shipped and installed by a local shop: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....7&autoModClar=
They are a "best seller" and have very high ratings in their class, especially the 85,000 mile tread life guarantee. They are replacing my similar Yokohama Avid Tourings that I got 130,000 miles+ out of and they still have decent tread left.
Here they are on the car:

Very smooth and steady ride out on the interstate, with plenty of traction on the turns.

Be aware that if you get a non-standard size tire it will affect your speedometer and wider tires, while giving more grip, may also lower gas mileage and ride comfort.

If you are looking for longevity, the falkens with their 500 treadwear should last forever!

Go for the Sumis. I've been running them for years, and they work great and are dirt cheap.
I even race on them, and beat Miatas that are on Hoosiers. Crazy performance for such a cheap tire.
I ran up to 215/50/13 on my stock plus shaped rims, and would recommend that you go with a
205/60/13 if you are on stock width rims (much happier than the 215s were on the narrow rims).
I've even given away a couple of used sets for others to finish off by autocrossing them.
They got rave reviews even in their worn out condition.
When I was gearing up for the Deals Gap Rotary meet at tail of the dragon last spring,
I put a new set of the 215s on a set of 8" wide wheels and boy are they ever happy on nice wide rims.
The tires performed great while I was down there, and for the trip down and back.
I was sticking with cars on 10X the rubber that I was, but the Sumis just did an outstanding job.
That's kinda rare these days, to run into something that performs in an outstanding manner,
but when I run across it I tell others what I've found. These tires fall into that category.
Anyway, hope this helps.

Another one running the 205/60 Sumitomos on stock wheels. They're very nice, lots of grip even in the wet (a big deal for a year-round daily driver in Seattle). Very easy to reel back in when they do start to slide. The sidewalls are pretty soft, but if you bump up the pressure it helps a lot.
I ran those Kumhos that Ray posted for a while, but they can't really compete with the Sumis in performance.

I agree, if you want a good tire for day to day driving with decent performance, the Kumhos are a good deal. (Like in my case, I'm looking for good overall highway performance, best gas mileage and longest tread wear). But if you want a better performance tire for competition and the track or even driving a lot on wet windy roads, the Sumitomos are the better choice.
Sorry to raise from the dead..well..maybe not.
As far as 185/70R13, Sumitomo has HTR T4 in this size. Any opinion on these versus the KR21. I've got a $70 quote difference between these and the more expensive Kumho KR21.
I don't autocross or anything...daily summer driver weather permitting, and I want a good looking tire too since I'm loosing my ancient front pair RWL Bridgestones that are cracked and pretty well bald but have RWL so I've been milking em until I crash n burn or replace...think replace is the smarter move...damn I hate being responsible.

Okay, time for an update I guess.
