New Source for Oil Filters.

I found a new way to get oil filters for whatever reason. High flow, Long Life, Larger Capacity, whatever.

I change oil quite a lot at my job. The commonly used filters are easily remembered. Most notably, Champ PH2808 goes on most 4Cyl 1.6L and up Honda engines.

So, flipping through the filter book, I come across these lines.

Mazda RX-7 1979-1985, 2rtr, 1146cc, 4bbl - PH2808

and

Mazda RX-7 1984-1985, 2rtr, 1308cc, FI - PH2808

Hey! We have the same filter mounts as most Hondas. There are plenty of "performance" items out there for Hondas. There are also some real performance items out there for Hondas.

Now instead of looking for a K&N oil filter for a 1985 Mazda RX-7 12A, I can look for a K&N oil filter for a 1998 Honda Civic SOHC 1.6L.

Perhaps there are High capacity or High filteration or other coolness factor oil filters available for Hondas.

I couldatold you that

1st-gens spec out a Casite CF402 which is the same as '90-up Hondas.

Looking in the back of the book where it lists the filter dimensions, the largest filter with the same threads and seal diameter is what is for the '89-92 626/MX-6/Probe 2.2l engine. It's the same diameter as the stock RX-7 filter but is about 1/2-3/4" taller. (i forget exact number)

The K&N is HP1004, but don't waste your money. It's the same as a Mobil-1 M1-104 except for the fancy nut on the end. Also try a Bosch 3312. It's made by the same company (Champion Laborotories) and is still better than a standard filter. And never, ever use a Fram. They have a tendency to collapse under pressure. It's the worst design for oil filters out there.

Napa filters are pretty good. I believe that they are the same as Wix filters, or at least they used to be.
