New problem with SE

OK, so I get the car running pretty good, so I start timing it. I find out its almost 35 degree off and its running pretty good. I get the timing set, and it runs like crap. So I check the trailing, and NO SPARK! I get that fixed, and the car runs smoother than I think I've ever heard a rotary. So I go out to test drive and every time the engine is under a load, it squeals. Like a shreeky squeel. Almost like a belt, but positive its not. I have talked to some of my rotary buddies around here and they have heard a rotary do that before, but dont know what it is. Any body know? Im so trired of messing with this stupid car, once I get something fixed, somthing else stupid happens.

Loose alternator belt is usually the culprit.

Pretty sure its not a belt at all. I have had that before and I know what that sounds like. This is a different squeal. I cant belive nobody knows.

Check for a broken/leaking ACV/air pump hose. Mine had broken and it made a sound "similar" to a belt squeal, but I knew it wasn't.

Well, Im not running ANY of the stock emissions or fuel injection. So ACV is out of the question. It has a webber48 ida.

WOAH!!!!! DANGER WILL ROBINSON!!! Lemmie confirm some things from you...

1.) It won't do it free revving in your driveway.

2.) It only happens when you're under load, AND trying to accelerate.

3.) It'll quit the noise if you ease up on the throttle a bit.

4.) It's not exactly a belt squeaking, It kinda has a metallic rattle noise, Like some pennies in a glass jar, lightly shaken...

5.) Before you adjusted the timing, it was RETARDED... It was really close to TDC or ATDC...

If all these are correct, STOP DRIVING NOW!!! Crank that timing back some and check your mixture... That's preignition, aka Pinging... It's dangerous to the rotaries as it breaks apex seals if you do it too often...

Perhaps you shoudl double check your timing figures... I believe it's 25 deg BTDC for leading and a 10 degree split for trailing, making it 15 deg BTDC... Although, I think that's stock... I dunno bout a carbed GSL-SE

On my car, when I re-hooked the vacuum switch in my car it caused a type of squeal but not at idle..

You could disconnect it , block the hose and see.

But I would double check the timing

leading 5 degrees ATDC
trailing 20 degrees ATDC

for stock egi.

I'm completely with Pele on this one. I've over shot the timing on my engine when I installed the distrubuter(one notch), and that is what I figured it out to be soon after. Definitely a no-no and do exactly what he said if I were you!!!
