Cool new, and looking for info

I'm new to the forum. I own an 85 GSL.. i'm looking for some relatively low cost mods that I can do to increase performance. Nothings been done so far so its completely stock.

Also i'm looking for some good rotary mechanics near Regina Sask for all you Canadians out there willing to share your knowledge.

Also i've been thinking of dropping in a 13b to bring it up to GSL-SE standards. What exactly goes into that and needs to be changed?

no matter what you want to free up the exhaust. if emissions are not an issue than get rid of the cats, and remove the air pump....once you do the exhaust, it will free up alot of horsepower that will compliment every other mod you do to it

Welcome to the forum. You should start of by reading the FAQ for the first gen cars. https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-specific-1979-1985-18/1st-gen-rx-7-faq-page-237777/ It has a lot of useful information. Many will tell you to try to learn to do the work on these cars yourself. By doing your own work, you will save a lot of money and learn something in the process. Besides, most shops no nothing about these cars. Just take your time and learn about them and do the work yourself. This forum has tons of valuable information and people here are always willing to help a rotorhead in need.

You can certainly upgrade to 13b, but it would be a lot of work if you want to retain the fuel injection. Many will tell you the 12A can be plenty fast. You can start by upgrading your exhaust and upgrading the carb and you are looking at at least a 50% increase over stock power. There is also engine porting and forced induction if you want even more power.

exhaust and a nice header will definetaly give you a good start..... work from there

a decent "tune up" wont hurt either.
