Question New engines

Where is a good place to buy a rebuilt 12a or rebuilding kit for a 12a?

I have a feeling my engine will go soon (My mom drove my car w/ low Oil)

I needed to buy some Oil (thought I had some b4 i changed) so i drove my mom's car to get some (i drained my oil already)... My mom is addicted to Diet Dr Pepper (anyone else?) and thought a "short drive to 7-11 would be harmless" (in my car)

Well, this could be an excuse to but an FD

Well depending on how far of a drive , it may have overheated. pull your plugs and look at them to see if they are wet or coated with oil, if not you should be ok.

On the other hand, mazdatrix is the most complete rebuild kit you can find (approx 91 dollars plus shipping).
the only other thing you SHOULD need is a front and rear main seal. around 115 totaly plus shipping. Ill be ordering mine next month. They also carry rebuilt engines starting at around 1200 plus shipping.

put oil in the motor, run it awhile, then remove the oil filter and open it up, see how much metal is in there.....

be sure to have the oil cooler ultrasonic cleaned before putting rebuild in there.

Thanks
I checked the plugs, they were fine..
it's only about a 1 mile drive round trip to the 7-11, it's just down the street...

I may be wanting to rebuild the engine anyway, rebuild it and get a mild port, something along those lines..
Thanks for the help!

That's just the gasket set. It doesn't include any of the hard seals, springs or oil control o-rings. To replace these with new parts, as you should, you'd probably be looking at around a grand. Then factor in costs for machining the side housings etc. and it starts to add up pretty quickly.

See if it smokes after you put oil in it.

I'd be worried about overheating myself. The oil is a rather large fraction of the cooling system.

Just to be sure, I took it to my mechanic..
There was minor (MINOR) metal shavings in the oil filter, nothing to be worried about.
Just to make sure, i had him check the whole engine out

personally, i would kill my mother and bury were in the backyard. i thought it was bad when my mother drove my car with a BADLY slipping clutch. i would definitely have her footing the bill. like the fd idea too.

man, I'd be some mad if my mom took my car out for a drive without asking me first, especially after she saw me working on it already....
