Okay, since you didn't mention extra money being a part of the equation, I am assuming it is straight trade.

So if this is car for car and nothing more, who wouldn't want the 12a turbo powered SE over an FC that doesn't even run? You won't have to put more money into it to drive it, it is an SE so you get all the benefits of the better suspension, but get the 12a which is the longer lasting engine (even though it would probably be greatly reduced by being forced induction).

I personally would go for the whole 12a turbo powered vehicle myself. First gens are lighter, it is probably making as much power as the FC if not more.

Although, a straight trade as so would leave me wondering what the hell is wrong with the FB. Why are they willing to get a non running car for a running car, especially considering how much GSL-SE's are going for these days. (I know, I know, it doesn't have the fuel injected 13b, but I assume it still has all the other bits that make it an SE).

Edit: After seeing that it has the JDM 12at, it really makes me wonder why they are wanting to trade. Have you test drove it, or seen it running? Maybe it is in need of a good tune?

I would be really skeptical about what is wrong with the car.

Yeah, get the first gen. You'll at least have a running rx7. To top it off, I am pretty sure you will be pretty amazing at how fast it is once you drive it.

Since you sent me pics of your 2nd gen, and folks, let me tell you, it is a very nice one, one of the best kept 2nd gens I have seen, and we have talked a bit about different options, let me toss out a different idea for you.

I bought a TII several years ago with the intentions of building it back up, motor was toast. not a problem, but I am hooked on the 1st gens and old school rotarys, no more new **** for me, lol.

I pulled the engine, tranny and driveshaft out of the TII and sold it this summer for a little more than I paid for it. The idea being I now have most of the parts to do a TII swap into an earlier rotary, going with a standalone ecu of some sort. I do have a complete S$ TII harness, minus a few sensors, but I won't be using it on the widebody.

If you are up to the work involved needed to do the swap into a 1st gen, you might consider going that route. There are plenty of potential buyers out there who are willing to buy a good TII shell, that's already done and do thier own engine and tranny install, i.e., someone who wants to install an REW or 20B, or wrecked thier TII and are looking for a new home for thier drivetrain, but doesn't want to or can't afford all of the interior/exterior cosmetics.

Often the hardest part of doing a TII swap in a 1st gen or earlier rotary is finding the TII donor parts. You already have them and you know what you have and what you will be dealing with. Finding a decent 1st gen shell us easier than finding the TII donor parts, so you are a couple of steps ahead of the game.

I personally would pull the engine, tranny and driveshaft, swap the S5 tails back to the S4's, sell off the S5s and put the shell up for sale. Since you have those nice leather seats, swap some used ones back in and keep or sell the leather ones seperately. If you want to do a color change in the 1st gen, the TII seats will fit.

I sold my TII shell for 900, it was black/gray and needed a little body work, fresh paint wouldn't hurt either. Had no trouble selling it for my asking price. It also needed new brakes, shocks struts and the interior cleaned, a fresh headliner, better seats, along with the usual broken stereo surround. If you can pull 1500-1800 out of your's, keeping the drivetrain, you have a good start on paying for a rebuild and picking up a decent 1st gen shell.

As far as the 12AT, unless it's efi, I would pass on it, but that's just my personal preference. A stock, rebuilt TII with the usual upgrades, ported wastgate, FCD and 3" exhaust, you will be pulling a little over 220 hp and still have the reliability of of a stock TII. That will smoke any other stock TII and get you close to keeping up with a stock 3rd gen. If you want more than that, it's not hard to get to 300 hp with a hybrid turbo and the usual fuel/injector upgrades.

The only parts you are missing for the engine install is an SE front cover and front engine mount, both of which can be found at RB or in the for sale section. Then have a driveshaft made. For engine management, look into MegaSquirt. It's 1/3 the price of a Haltech. If the buyer of your shell has wrecked his, make the wiring harness and all the sensors you need as part of the deal and you can forgo going standalone.

Hell, if you really want to have fun, there is a sharp widebody 1st gen for sale on eBay. Perfect candidate for a TII swap. The body is done, has tires and wheels to support the TII's hp. Needs the interior redone in one color and maybe ReSpeeds TII front brake upgrade kit, then you're good to go.

Yeah, I know, I'm the Devil for getting a few guys hooked on the 1st gens, especially the widebodys. lol

Well lets see some pics of your TII so we can see why you are being so hesitant in trading it. Then it will be easier for us to help you with less 1st gen bias.

going 12a turbo.I figured hey, i will spenfd 1500 foir a rebuild, and havae a bad *** t2. But at the same time i can hace a gsl-se with a 12a turbo wich is exrtemely rare.

I am thinking that a boosted 1st gen is rather more fun thab a t2. I just remember how my buddys 1st gen turbo would smoke all kinds of cars and was very reliable. And that was 12 yrs ago.

So my decision is for the gsl-se 12a turbo. THanks guys and i will keep you all posted. Btw heres a old pic of the t2 say goodbye everyone

okay, well it has been confirmed. The j-spec 12at will be arrivng at my house in a few weeks. Spoke to both the ownwer and builder, and everything sounds up to par. Why would this guy travel 2000 miles to trade if his car was a POS?

So again, i will be a first genner, and i am not at all depressed.
