wont start, did search...

my car is died... the other day (friday) i drove home from work and all that jazz, and then saturday i changed my lsd lube and tranny lube and what not, and then went off and did other stuff, not driving my car, driving the girlfriends focus. anyways, come monday, it was a little bit of a cold morning, and the 7 wouldnt start. so i stayed home that day to try and see what was going on... i killed the battery down a little bit trying to start it that morning, so i used the girls car to try and jump it, no luck.

any ways, down to the good stuff. i read the "end all to no starts" dealywop, and did all the stuff for a car thats turning over and shot out all the gas that was flooding it and what not, cleaned up the spark plugs, made sure ive got spark, on all 4, its getting gas. and as a last resort, i went and bought some starting fluid, that didnt work either???any help???please???

If we're going to figure this out we need a lot more information.

What sort of noises does it make when it cranks? Does it fire at all? Does it fire irregularly? Does it crank at normal speed?

Precisly what tests have you performed? How did you check for spark? Fuel? What do you mean "all the gas that was flooding it"? Is your engine flooded? Did you check for compression? Did you use a rotary compression tester? What sort of results did you get? What happpaned when you used starting fluid?

more info yup.

the sounds...as far as i can tell, it sounds the same as it did before, but mabey a little slower than normal. i arced the spark to the fender to check for spark, and yes, it was flooded, but im pretty sure that was just from me trying to start it for as long as i did.

no, i didnt check compression, i dont have a tester.

when i used starting fluid, it did the exact same thing it was doing, nothing. garg......help!

If the starting fluid doesn't even get it to fire, then you are not sparking, which is a nice term from the 40-50's for sitting in the back seat with your best gal, lol.

Since you probably flooded it badly, you have also washed the combustion chamber of all of the oil coating and the compression is down. Pour a couple of capfuls of motor oil down each rotor in the carb, crank over, clean the plugs again, then try firing it up.

hey man (trochoid). dumping a little bit 'o oil in the carb did the trick. it was a little rough of a start, but it got it going. after it was running, it smoked out of the tailpipe for something around 10 mins or so.

I was talking to one of my buddies when i got it started, and he suggested checking to see if my OMP is working right or not, so i pulled one of the hoses off at the carb to see if was dripping oil or not, but im not sure how much/how fast its supposed to be coming out of there... but it wasn't really. at all...but i only had the hose off for mabey, MABEY one minute.

is it possible my omp could be going out or already gone? if it isn't, would it be easier to fix the one i have, get a new one, or block it off and premix? sorry for the long reply. Thanks so much for the time, i have hope once again.

Download the FSM, it will tell you how much oil is supposed to come out. A OMP rebuild kit is cheap it is SUPER easy to do. Good place to clean on the engine since most of the time they start to leak around where they mount to the engine.

Start the car without the air cleaner lid, so you can look down into the carb at the little ports where the metering oil comes out (one in each primary barrel). When you rev the egine, you should be able to see the oil being released (it just looks like a brown streak getting sucked down into the carb). This method won't measure your discharge, but it's an easy way to see whether or not your pump is functional.

Premix about half a litre of two stroke into your gas at your next fill up (oil, than gas, on an empty tank). Pull off both hoses and put them in a cup or something. With the engine at full temp, run at 2000 rpm, with the throttle not the choke, for six minutes. You should get 2.0 to 2.5 mililitres. Don't do this without premixing first or your seals won't get any lube drunig the test.
