Well I already do that cuz my car wont pass smog and my mechanic says its because my carb sucks and that too much gas was beeing sent through unused. Well anyway my car is dead and he says the carb is clogged and I should get another one.
I looked in the for sale section and couldnt find this blwfly guy.

Unburned fuel is taken care of by the catalytic converter. Which means if the cat is not good or there is a problem with the air pump system the Hc's will be high and you will not pass smog even if you have a perfectly good carb in there.
There are too many so called mechanics that blame everything on the carburetor when in fact over 90% of the time there is something else going on.

haha thats true ^^^
a mechanic should be able to determin a cluster of problems causing ya bad smog
maybe u need to learn arout the carbureator and rebuild your own you will only be saving hundreds of dollars
take docs advise about the cat because it has a function for smog

Yeah trochoids helpin out. And lol just to clear things up the mechanic didnt say too much gas was being sent through unused, the smog results showed this. What the mechanic said was the carb was clogged and before the carb stopped functioning he said it could be a factor in my smog problem.
I have a fair amount of trust in this mechanic he has worked on a few 1st gens and a few 3rd gens along with other top end cars.
I would not however, trust him with the internals. I would take it to ROTARYX! but they would charge me up the ***. So I will take it to the mechanic instead for as long as i can.

Cat
"Unburned fuel is taken care of by the catalytic converter. Which means if the cat is not good or there is a problem with the air pump system the Hc's will be high and you will not pass smog even if you have a perfectly good carb in there."
The cat takes care of unburned hydrocarbons. If your carb is running rich you will pollute more egrdless of your cat. While it is true that a cat would reduce the emmissions of a rich running car versus no cat, it is incorrect to think that a cat can counter the excess emmissions produced by a poor running car with a faulty carb.
