need an opinion
I want to prep my carb for a blowthrough setup. Should i prep the stock nikki carb or is it easier to prep a holley or webber?????? OR. is it easier to build a box around the carb??? i need opinions from people that have done these mods before. If you have any kind of thread to dirrect me to or anyu kind of info please let me know. The motor is a 12a in a 79 with a stage 1 street port. The turbo is in good condition and the motor seems to be ok, but then again its a rotary. Please let me konw what you guys think. The reason im doing this is becasue the turbo gets to hot and the longer i run the car the less i can boost because the air gets to hot before it reaches combustion ( or atleast this is what i think is happening). I think if i run an intercoller it will help out greatly.

Yea, I would run an intercooler. I think that the holley is easier to juice and the weber is easier to boost. You will have to prep any carb that you plan to use. The nikki doesn't hold boost as is, but some people have gotten it to (shitty idle, shitty gas milage, not that great). I would go with a sidedraft, but I think that there are carb hats for the IDA floating around now so you could go with that.
If you want a cheap intercooler, take the stock s4 or s5 IC and take off all the alluminum shrouding, mount it right in front of your radiator and the piping goes in and out of one side. You can probably find one around the forum for sale section for 20-60 bucks.
