I have 16x7's all around and they all have a 43mm offset (FWD offset / SE suspension). As you can see in the pictures I could have gone wider. The key is getting them inboard as much as you can without rubbing the shock or spring. Since I have coilovers I was able to grind the **** out of the spring mounting perch so the tire wouldnt rub on the inside. The racing beat lowering kit made it nice too becouse I did'nt have to bottom out the coilovers to lower the car so much. The higher the coilovers the more clearance you have for tire/wheel.

the above link is helpfull in figuring out wheel offsets. For example, If I wanted to get 16x8's to fit, but I did'nt have any more wheel clearance on the inside, with the calculator's help I can determine that an 8" wheel will need to have a 30mm offset to match my 7" 43mm wheel's inside clearance.

i have 17" with the gsl-se suspensin. my rims have 40mm offset and 215/40/17, they are the biggest you can fit without going to coilovers.
my suspension consists of tokico blue's and ebaich springs.
carl.
p.s. i also rolled the inside of the fender lip IN.
