Need Help With A Part Number

Ok guys, I need help tracking down a Mazda part number. I've looked through the parts diagrams online, but they are so fuzzy looking I can't tell what I'm looking at. See the attached picture.

I am looking for the Mazda part number for #67. It is the blockoff plug that goes in the sub zero start assist port on the carburetor body. It is the one they used if the car ISN'T equipped with the sub zero start assist system. My car came with the hose barb fitting and I want to replace it with the blockoff plug.

I have looked everywhere for a plug to use and can't find one. I checked Lowe's, and McMaster Carr and no luck. Anybody know the Mazda part number for the blockoff plug?

Jamie

i think what you are looking for is part of a plug set for CA emissions cars. it MAY be part of part number: 2183-23-508..which as far as i can check is NLA. i may be wrong though.

I think I might have a CA carb here to check for you. If it has the bolt, it's yours.

Hey, one more thing. You might check the thread pitch and length. Maybe a jet bolt could work? They are 8mm x 1.00 I think. Short, too.

DF - A bolt with a washer would work, but the problem is finding one that is short enough. All the hardware suppliers I've checked don't even come close to selling one that short. I bought the shortest one they sell at Lowes, which I think was about 60mm long. I tried it in the hole and it bottomed out way too soon. I wasn't even close to sealing up the hole.

Jeff - We think alike. I tried the plug bolts for the fuel jets, but they are too small. The sub zero start assist plug is a M10 x 1.25. It is a fine thread metric bolt, and that is why I'm having such a tough time finding one short enough. If it was standard thread I could find whatever length I wanted.

I have several of those in a multitude of lengths (short, practically by the mm) and head bolt styles; all OEM. I'll take a look for some appropriate ones today.

Jeff,

It's a M10 x 1.25. The threaded portion of the bolt needs to be 10mm long.

I'm thinking about using a Metric set screw instead of a bolt and crush washer. I could cover the threads with JB Weld and then put it into the carb body. After the JB Weld sets up I wouldn't have to worry about it leaking or coming out ever. I found a set screw that is the right length.

I checked the carb I was thinking of. Whatever was in it (bolt or nipple) is gone now. Good luck with the set screw!
