Need Help Getting IT Running!!!!!

So I got my cart yesterday and broguth her home. We then proceded to turn her over and she didn't sputter or anything. We changed out the ignitor, not new but cleaner spark plugs, and sprayed carb cleaner in the carb. It started to pop as it turned over and almost wanted to start but just couldn't do it. My friends dad says the spark plugs have a little spark but not much. It seems like something with the ingition to me. Can anybody give me any advice???

I doubt its the spark. Pour some gas in the carb. if it starts then you know its fuel delivery issue.

Well wechanged out the fuel pump because it had a efi pump for a T2 motor but the sissy was scared to drive it and got a 12a. he was a lawyer. But my friends dad said the spark plugs didn't seem wet enough. What exactly should I check with the fuel?

Josh, my dad is pretty much convinced that we just need to tow your car to get it started...

The plugs did seem rather dry, though. Once we actually get it started (hopefully a la tow style) we can tune it from there.

FWIW, the guy threw in two carbs to Josh for free, saying that one of them had the floats stuck. After an hour or so of fighting with the carb that was on the car, we decided to give one of the other carbs a shot. Fuel is most certainly getting to the carb because the carb that we put on had the "stuck floats." A few well placed shots to the floats with a cresent wrench stopped the overflow of fuel.

We pulled the plugs and just let josh turn over the motor. Gas was most certainly exiting the motor as it filled upmy garage with the haze. Heh. When we tested the spark, my dad noted that it appeared to be "a little weak."

After changing the trailing ignitor, the motor is trying now. It's starting to pop, but it still needs something extra to get it going. I'm really thinking that reason that the motor isn't starting is due to the fact that the ignition system is so ghetto rigged that it just isn't right. I really think you need to change out your plug wires, get a couple of new coils, and get the timing as close to dead on as possible. From there, we'll spray some more starter fluid in it, and try to crank it over. If that doesn't work, we are towing the beast.

BTW, wackyracer, we sprayed a total of a half of a can of starter fluid, and about 10 oz. of gas down the carb (not at once, mind you) and it still didn't start.

Looks to me like Josh is a major need of a 2GCDFIS / TT. Also if you have changed out the trailing why have you not changed the leading, that is more important than the trailing. Too bad I live on the other side of Lousiana, I got an extra coil or two laying around.
Also why do you think towing it will make it start. Are you thinking that the starter is not turning it over fast enough. If the igition system is weak its weak.

Engine is flooded. To unflood it, pour regular oil (cap full) on each venturies, hand crank it for a about a minute. let it sit for a few hours, install clean/dry plugs and then start it. Oil helps build compression.

There are different tricks to unflood it but I never use ATF in any one my engines (including customers).

It lives.... we pull started it and it cranked up. It won't idle at low rpm's but does fine over 5000. My friends dad is thinking it is a one rotar engine. I don't like the sound of that.

Time for a rebuild! Or a TII Swap or if you feel like living dangerous you could go with a Twin Turbo Swap!

I am looking to do a Turbo II swap. I need a place that actually rebuilds them so I know that I have a good engine and don't have to worry about it being blown are close to it. Can anybody point me to a good place. I know robert at rotaryshack has the engines but I don't think he rebuilds them. Can anybody help?

i would say as far as rebuilding i would send it to www.atkinsrotary.com as they have a very good reputation. dan really seems to know his **** too so if you want someone to rebuild it for you i would talk to dan.

i am goingt o be rebuilding it on my own. first rebuild ever, but im stoked. im gonna build it myself because i want to learn everything i can about it. that way i will always know what is wrong with it at any given time.

the choice is yours man, but this is my .02

Well T talked to him about shipping, I just wasn't sure if he rebuilds them or not. I was also wondering, What size turbo would I be able to put on the engine? I think I have him set as my dealer for the engine, I might just see if he can get a little bigger turbo and louder blow off valve. He has really good prices and a lot of people have told me to go to him. Thanks for the help, Josh.
