Oil level sensor is leaking

When I put the motor together I asked if the oil level sensor needed a gasket, or if the seal was provided by the taper in the unit. I was told it did not need a gasket, so I didn't put one on it, but it is leaking quite badly. What's the consesus? I'm going to change the oil, so now is the time to take care of it. I plan on putting some Versachem grey on it...what do you think?

Thanks,
Rich

Well you definetly need better sealing.
Is there a surface for a gasket? If so, add one. AND use a sealant on the threads. If no surface for the gasket, trust the sealant. Follow sealant instructions.

RTV should take care of it Rich. Inspect the sender for cracks on the mounting flange.
