I would try $100 bucks. see if he will take it, and if not, go from there. And as fas as I am aware the Gs tranny will fit. they both have the same engine, and the only difference is the rear-end.
Good luck

Hell, try for about 200, then spend about 150 on a new tranny. You should be set.

i would offer her about $100 to see if they will take it, if not go from there like someone said, and just mention that you are out a transmittion, and youll need to purchase one. that might take them down a little.. who knows

188 km or miles? And which is more? Hehe, just kidding. And I'm assuming 650 Canadian.

I'd be slightly weary of it since you can't really hear it run or anything. Tell the guy you'll give him 650 if he finds a tranny and does it himself. Otherwise, tell him you have to charge a 150 for parts and labor (so 500). Also, point out stupid little stuff that's wrong with it (stuff he maybe didn't notice or mention) and call that "a common problem" or "a bad sign". For example, if the exhaust has a decent build-up inside the tips (which it should, it's a rotary ), tell him that's a tell-tale sign of too much oil consumption and that the OMP is likely going out. Then say you'll have to run premix to compensate because you don't want to shell out 335 bucks for a new OMP. Depending on his knowledge of the car, he'll either say "screw you" or "that's why it's 650, not 1000".

Ah, hell, just buy it. I'd pay 650 Canadian (what's that, like 350-400 US?) for a GSL with no tranny in as good of condition as you said. What have you got to lose?

That does sound pretty stupid, with the quirky wiring I'd think you'd know every fuse by heart.
