My new Gauges

I finally got my Dual A/F and EGT gauges installed, along with permanently mounting the G-Tech. Still got room for a stereo. Now I just need a new stereo LOL.

I want to throw in 2 or 3 guages also...

I want to get A/F Ratio for sure(I need to fix my damn mixture)

What else should I get? Oil pressure? Oil temperature? Water temperature? EGT?

Or should I just get A/F because the others would be "rice" gauges?:P

It depends on what u need. U got oil pressure already, and water temp. Oil temp would be good to have. I use a mechanical water temp gauge for that on my racecar. You really only need A/F/EGT if your trying to tune. But you can do it with either, you dont need both. But it doesnt hurt.

I dont want to pay more for the dam head than the engine stand...so if you make your own let me know..

Sorry, I dont use a stand. I use a dolly to do my build ups on. Its easier to move around, but hell on the back!

can you post a pic of the dual egt at night? if i remember correctly that badboy isnt backlit

what o2 sensors did you use?

i want an a/f but i think im going to have only one gauge and wire it up using a flasher relay that will switch between the 2 02's ( good ole rb sp exhaust ). i can even have it power a couple LEDs under the gauge that tell me which one its on at the moment, and i might get super fancy and add a toggle switch if i wanted to as well. anyone have any better ideas besides a flasher relay on how to make it switch banks?

i have a feeling your car should be fairly easy to tune

Sure I can get a night shot. It is backlit BTW. It's an FAA approved, calibrated gauge.

Bosch, single wire universal O2 sensors. Well the gauges were cheap enough so I did the 2. BTW RB SP exhaust here too, one in each pipe. Be careful about a switch, remember the O2 is a 0-1v sender. A small amount of extra resistance will throw it off.

It better be easily tuned! After all this work LOL.

yeah i was gonna use the toggle to control a relay, and get a super hoss relay. the flasher relay would also control this super hoss relay. hrmmm maybe i should draw a diagram for people who dont know what im talkin about?

sweeeeeeeet cant wait for night pics, isnt the dual egt only 80 bucks? i dont remember where its from though, whered you get it?

Hmm.. I don't have oil pressure on my '79.. and I thought that the temperature was the engine's temperature? You know that Cold and Hot thing?

Sorry, didnt know 79's didnt have oil pressure gauges. If you dont, add one, its good to have. Yes your temp gauge is water temp. An oil temp gauge is a good idea for a modded car.

Ohh Dam I just noticed...this stand has a plate..how abotu the one with the 4 legs?

Can you still use that?If so ..Im going to buy it asap.. (tonight)

I got to get my **** together..

I just got to make sure the head rotates..

Carl..I guess you didnt know I edit your post a little...lol

Its all good,I just wanted an outside gauge so I dont lean the engine when running that 100-150 shot

But the guy at Automotive Engerneering says it still can be ran on 5 psi of fuel..I also dont need a pressure rising regulator for carbed set ups..

Allright... I guess that I'm going to put A/F Ratio,Oil pressure, Oil temperature gauges.. even though I probably won't install them myself, where exactly do you "wire up" the gauges?

Follow instructions with the gauge. For the A/F you need to install an O2 sensor in your exhaust, requires drilling a big *** hole in your manifold/header and welding on a nut so you can screw in the sensor. For OP and OT, depends, you going with mechanical or electric gauges?

and as for the O2 sensor... which one should I get? one off a scrapped car in a yard or it has to be a specific one? are there any cheap O2 sensors that work good?

Well either can be cheap or $$$$$$. Electric ones tend to be easier as you only have to run wires into the cockpit. Even the auto parts store ones are ok. Well you need a meter (i got mine on ebay) and a universal one wire sensor from autozone (bosch) $18.95
