My new Audi

You might remember, my car got smashed up a little a while back. Long story short they totaled the car and gave me a check fro $2210. I put this money along with my savings and a small loan towards this:
A 1997 A4 Quattro 2.8L. 119k, bought from original owner and garage kept. I wanted a five-speed or a 1.8T but for $6700 this was too good to pass up. I just brought it home not 20 minutes ago, so it still needs to be detailed

You'll love that car! I have a 2000 1.8T and it's been a great car to me. Hopefully you'll get some good snow before the winter's over. The Audi is killer in the snow.

Was boxed in by my price range. Either a nice -SE or a series V TII. I didn't want to put the miles on an -SE and I've already owned a mV N/A; not impressed with it.
My '7 is for sale, but I'll probably end up keeping it for a while and eventually using it as a spare car or part it out.
We are supposed to get *some* snow this week

Trying to upload more pics, but the forum is slow.

Very Nice, - I believe old 7's are weekend/week-nite warriors - not daily drivers.

Looks nice! I'm glad you got what you wanted. I still don't think that you should sell the RX; but if you must give me a call first.

Nice looking car. In case you don't know, there's a decent forum out there: www.audiworld.com. Used to be a lot better, lot of ricers now, but still has some useful information. I believe the 2.8s still have the timing belts. Make sure you change them when the book says, I've seen them break on too many people. And getting it changed isn't fun. I may get rid of my A4 for that reason. I think the dealer wants around $1400 for that. Only other thing that comes to mind on the 97s are control arms. Not a huge deal though. They are nice cars though. Enjoy it.

nice car! i have a 99 A4 1.8t with the sport package which includes the sport wheels, sport high-bolstered seats, sport 3 prong steering wheel and 6 disc Bose system. I love the car. I just passed 48k miles. Silver, 5spd. I'm going to take pics when the weather gets nicer.

Now you need to buy a laptop and use the VAG-COM software to basically take control of your ECU, do diagnostic tests, run realtime readings, program the remote to do cool things like put the windows down when you hold the unlock button, etc. It plugs into your OBD-II port under your steering wheel sorta. Sometiems you dont want to know what it tells you haha. I found out that 2 years ago, under the previous owner, my alarm was triggered by the interior motion sensors 2 times in one week lol.

$6700 is insane.... thats soooo cheap. Mine ran 17,400 with 44k miles and a 4 year 100k warrenty.

haha..... that happens to mine all_the_time. All ya gotta do is leave the windows open a crack and the wind will trip the motion detectors. No worries, that's probably what happened.

What's wrong with seven's being daily drivers? Mine has been my daily driver for two years now and I plan on keeping it my daily driver for another two to three.
