My Idle screw doesnt work!

Well I fixed my idle via fuel mixture, but my idle screw seemed to do nothing. Its idling at 400-500 rpm and stayin running but rough. I want to take it up to 750 to smooth it out but of course the screw isnt doin anything..

Any suggestions?

man your having all kinds of problems. LOL Get an aftermarket carb and intake. I can get you 1 local for 450. Its a dellorto and racing beat intake. That is if he still has it.

Check and make sure you don't have a intake leak, this could be feeding in so much air that your idle screw can't compensate for it.

Also check and make sure the phenolic spacer is on right side up. You should be able to see numbers on it (if it isnt broken like most are).

Just to be sure, where is the idle screw cause I am getting mixed answers from the FSM, and the FYI idle adjustment page.

It cant be an intake leak cause its idling at like 400 rpm.

that is for setting your OMP, and have nothing to do with the idle. Make sure you didn't screw up the OMP level, If I remember correctly, you should have about .1" of play at idle. this works so that you get more oil injected into the carb as the rpm goes up.
