That... looks sweet!
That would be my choice with any hood mods..I love subdued gill vents. My first car was a 75 Toyota celica GT with gill vents on both side of the hood..

it's the stock steel hood. and yes..my reinforcements are long gone. snipped them out a few months ago, so this was pretty easy to do.

more pics...

Nicely Done. Wanklingbeer has a car that had the vent from a Lumina molded in. I think it looks sweet.

i may add another set on the other side of the hood, it actually looks pretty cool right now.

with the car turned off and the electric fan going, i can feel the hot air being pushed out the vents. i can only imagine the affects of the vents at speed

ok..time do decide. should i do the same thing to the other side ?!

thinking of doing it tomorrow...

or should i keep the offset look? i actually like the uneven thing, the Z turbo had 1 side scoop...the FC has an off-center intercooler scoop...so i can have just one set of vents on the side right? lol

how did you cut out the vents? also how did you bend them so evenly? i have a spare hood and i measured and cut the understructure out to cut the vents like yours but im having a hard time cutting them. maybe cause i dont have a plasma cutter.

took a whole lot of measuring to get the spacing how i wanted it.

i used a circular saw with a metal blade to make the long cuts, with a cutting wheel attached to a skill drill to make the side slats...i cleaned it up with a jig saw.

i used my hands to bend them...

I'm going to have to try this on my new hood. I have no need for a scoop now.

Nice Job!

So if i did this directly above say... a top mount intercooler... would this provide enough airflow to substitute a scoop?

I think you should stick with one vent and leave the other side alone. There is no hot air on the other side to evacuate.

yes, that was the original reason why i put it on the passenger side...got the header right there, as well as my intake, if air temperatures are more critical anywhere...

but also, i think it *would* benefit from more vents to get that heat out. with my electric fan running with the car sitting still, i can feel quite a bit of air being pushed out through the vents.

i may eventually do the other side, just got lazy lately. waiting for my cp-racing strut braces(also trying to find out what happened to my $60 and the magnecor wires from mazdaracing)
