Installation of Oil Metering Lines On 12A

I am in the process of replacing the oil metering lines on my 12A.
The lower connections appear to be no problem, but the uppers are buried under the carburator opening flange.
My current idea is to use the longest (11 inch) pair of need nose pliers I have to fish out and install.
Any advice on whether this may work, or some correct method.
Do I need to inject oil into the carburetor after intial start up after, until the lines are full again?
Thanks

Your plans sounds good to me. I suggest removing the air-filter box because it'll give you a lot more working room. You don't need to prime the lines. If the oil metering pump (aka OMP) is working, it should as the name implies, pump the oil into the carb. Good luck!

As an update, the long needle nose pliers worked fine.
