Very good video, I'm guessing your Rotary powered Lotus is the older one, that was made back when Lotus only did Kit cars correct? Man my dream one day is to get on the track in an Rx-7. One day. I don't know of any Tracks in Washington, besides the Super oval in East Wenatchee, but they don't allow Rotary Engines =(

Sweet times. Maybe you should play around with tire combinations to kill that understeer a bit? Something a little more grippy or wider abit. Also are your front wheels rubbing? Or whats that grinding noise when you take hard turns?

great video. lots of fun.

is that high pitch whine during steering = tire rubbing or just tire noise due to reaching max grip?

my trunk carpet used to do that too.

that motor really wants to be bridgeported.

Let us know next time you go out, some locals might show up to say HI.

Why don't you guys get some velcro for that carpet? I know its a little added weight but might be worth it

Collect parts for GSL-SE brake swap.... Might put stiff spring or sway bar...
should be able to do it next week
here come a biggest problem.....

I blow my Right front shock on last testing day at willow... that is MR2 Iluma... Thinking change to Bilstein setup... cause I dont really like Iluma feel... and Bilstein is the the shocks I hant test it yet.....

I think you're going to have to go with either Bilstein or Koni if you want to run those spring rates.

And yes, when I put the heavy aftermarket front swaybar on I had terrible oversteer until I put the rear bar back on the car. The two together seem to work well.

Shouldn't adding a rear sway bar give you more oversteer?

Koni yellow adjustables can handle a 500lb front spring. And are a real nice shock.

That said, I've used the race front illuminas with a 350lb front spring and it's always worked for me. Of course my car weighs less - gutted interior, lightened hood.

You are correct, I had that backwards. I was suffering from understeer, and replacing the rear sway bar helped with that. Thanks....

some minor update on my HSF.

Brake the Watt link last time. That why my rear wheel move side side so much... fix it still watt link but stronger Bracket

Install full GSL-SE brake suspension. with Hawk blue. so brake should be much better

Front suspension. this is where get most attention.
New pillow ball Tension rod.
New. Custom pillow ball A arm suspension.
Alu coilover sleeve. to save some weight
So Say bye bye to binding stock suspension .
Replace borken right shocks. replace with new one. install Bump stop.

Do a guick corner weight. half tank of gas 2165LB and 49% cross weight

looking nice ... curious though, why not get the rack and pinion kit from REspeed? Better Steering response probably than yours especially if you get a quicker rack, the crossmember is lighter than stock also!

Besides that you need to get it back on the track to get your numbers even lower.

Just come back from Testing....

Few thought

I need short stroke front shocks.

The Front control arm and Roll center block help a lot. on Turn in.

GSL-Se brake feel good. but create too much rear bias. very hard to trailing brake

I wil try to find some shorter stroke shocks for SA

Finally

I did 1:28.4 today that is almost 2 sec improve . So want to get down to 27!!!.... spend few session try to dial in rear shocks and brake bias... and spin few more time compare to normal day The mile tune SA22C is not easy to drive...... By the time I finish dial in the brake bias and shocks .. is already last session. and i blow it again... by spin it off at bowl kind da **** when a slower traffic car block my line!!!!!!

I also attach the Vbox Data log file

I cant seem to find Koni Yellows for the first gen rx7, is there another application that will fit the first gen rx7?

I'd call koni and ask them directly, even if they are not stock parts anymore, they can probably custom build something for you.

150# rear, 275# front. Using Illuminas on the front and Bilstein on the back.

For shock recommendations, I would suggest that you contact Respeed and let them advise you. You can either PM "Bwaits" on this forum, or go to their website www.re-speed.com They'll take good care of you.

sec session of the day. Too much rear brake bias. make the car very hard to control at turn2. you can see I over shoot that corner few time....

Shock and tire psi is not in the"zone" yet
