My DLIDFIS
Ahh! I can finally upload pics to my computer again! Anyway thought you guys might like to see my bad-*** DLIDFIS setup, the pic isnt the greatest, but you get the point and yes that is a HEI module modified to be used as the trailing ignitor, works great and they cost about 1/10 as much as a mazda ign.!!

jsinrx7, good job!
I spent some time tonight hooking up one of my cars. J-109 all around. I set it up and tested it a year ago, but took the engine back out. It's back in now and I'm going to fire it up tomorrow.
The HEI ignitors have a W and some other letter on the pickup signal side. I can't remember which wire it goes to on the Mazda dizzy though. Anyway, you have the right idea.

The W connects to the positive lead at the distributor and the G connects to the negative.
I am in the process of doing the DLIDFS mod and I was wondering what guage of wire should I use?

IMO individual aftermarket coils are better because:
a) they are "hotter"
b) they can be replaced individually
c) MUCH easier to find than 2nd gen coils.
d) and finally, you can say "Who cares about V-TEC, I have three Coils bitch!!"

I was looking at the wiring picture for DLIDFIS and I was wondering what did you do to connect the positive side of the coils to the ignition switch?
The diagram shows all three positive posts hooked together and then connected to the ignition switch. Is it ok if I just connect the positive posts of the new leading coils together and use the wire that originally ran from the stock leading coil to the ignition switch. I am leaving the trailing coil in the stock location and I am trying to figure out how to get the two leading coils connected to the ignition switch.
