My custom cold air intake
My understanding of this is essentially nothing... maybe what the guy was telling me is that it's difficult to actually *damage* a rotary from doing this, as compared to a piston engine. I'll shut up now
well true and not. usually in a piston engine it snaps a rod or buries the piston in the cylinder wall, sort of like huge detonation. now what do you think will give as the engine tries to compress the the almost incompressible. if your engine revs are down then it night be a "soft" enough hit to be survived with no major side effects. if the engine is revving decently, i'd say bye bye all kinds of seals. i wouldn't aim it out as you will pick up a shitload of debris and bugs. i'm speaking out of experience. cold/ram air doesn't matter if it can't go through the filter.
Good point... I was creeping through slowly when it happened which is probably why I didn't break a seal.
As for picking up debris... a bit of mesh on the end of the tubing solves that problem.

it stops right where you see it end. i think thats fine, i notice it at night when its cooler. id ont really worry about rain much because im in va and we are under a drought. but i dont think it would suck that much up anyways. just relocated the coolant canister with some self-taping screws, and drill a hole, some heater ducting, R-TV, duct tape.. and your good to go. took me and my dad all of 30-45 mins
